First Island Saturday

Well, it’s still raining. At least it feels a little lighter, like how you think “island rain” should be.

It let up in the early afternoon, and we had some errands to run, so we ventured out. We just got a PO box at the most adorable coffee shop and boutique called Barefoot Buddha near Havensight. Why did we get a mailbox there, you ask? Because there are waiting lists to pick up packages at the regular post office. The advice we’ve gotten from locals is pick a place you’ll already be going and get a box there. Oh darn, you twisted my arm. I have to get coffee?

After our errands were done, we went to Yacht Haven Grande to get some lunch, but everything looked dead. There were only a handful of people milling about. We wanted to try Grande Cru, but they weren’t even open. We found our way to Fresh Bistro and sat on their deck for lunch.

Lunch was yummy and we took our sweet time. When it came time for dessert, I had the chocolate pot de creme. If you are ever in the USVI, go to Fresh Bistro for this, if nothing else.

Chocolate pot de creme (or heaven, if you’re a chocolate lover like me)

My mouth is watering just thinking about this dessert. I think we’ll go back just for that.
